Free tuition at Vermont State schools for qualifying members of the Vermont National Guard
In 2018 the Vermont State Legislature approved the Vermont National Guard Tuition Benefit Program. The Program provided a much needed update to past National Guard scholarships / loans and assists in attracting and retaining high-quality Vermont Guard members who want to serve their state and nation while achieving their educational goals.
The Governor’s Veterans Advisory Council (GVAC) supported this initiative from Governor Scott by providing advocacy and stewardship of multiple bills over legislative sessions, conducting and sharing research, and directing informational campaigns to legislators.
The VNGTBP, as it is referred to by the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC), offers free tuition at a Vermont State School- inclusive of UVM - or a scholarship up to the Northern Vermont University in-state rate to a private institution.
